"Learning must be joyful, interesting and
meaningful to be effective"
Tracey D. Pugh
While juggling multiple careers as an educator,
author, and academic enrichment tutor,
Tracey Pugh is constantly busy fulfilling her
lifelong dream!!
Passion for Teaching
She is one of the few people who knew even back
in kindergarten what she wanted to do for a living: "Have fun while
helping as many people as I can!"Through teaching and tutoring, Tracey
is doing just that. Tracey believes that every person is capable of
learning, and that each student is worth the time and effort it takes to
help them reach their academic potential. Realizing that safety and trust
among students and their teacher is an essential part of the learning
process, Tracey relishes in the one-on-one enrichment method. Her
optimistic and energetic persona permeates with her students and
provides a positive counterpoint to much of what children are influenced
by in today's society.
Teaching/Enrichment Experience
With teaching experience in both Private and Public Schools, as well as
volunteering her time and curriculum writing efforts to assist numerous
educationally based programs in the Southwest Region, Tracey Pugh is
an expert in "reaching" children as well as "teaching" them. With a
degree in Public Affairs, a Texas State Teaching Certification and
Masters degree in Education in Reading and Technology, Tracey is
dedicated to life-long learning, an expectation that she has for children
as well as her students. Currently enrolled in a PhD Program, she
teaches as an Early Childhood educator during the school year at
Greenhill School in Addison, Texas. She also teaches Developmental
Writing and Theatre classes for an Upward Bound Program within the
Dallas Community College District and teaches with the Future Leaders
Program throughout the year.
Tracey is a sought-after speaker at conferences, schools, parent
associations and community service organizations.
Writing for Fun
Although she written several education articles, A Show and Tell
Lesson, (2006) is Tracey’s first published children’s book. Currently
working on her second book, she makes sure that characters aren't
always perfect. They often have fears, anxieties, and disabilities.
Through her book, children learn to cope with different challenges. They
can learn that they don't have to be perfect to be a good person. Her
characters also convey positive messages without being "preachy". They
gently remind children what is right. Many of Tracey’s stories are taken
from her own childhood experiences.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tracey currently makes her home
in Dallas, Texas with her husband, their two children and two active dogs.
